Utopia VR showcased at the annual Federation of Northern Ontario Municipalities (FONOM) virtual conference

KELOWNA, British Columbia – May 18, 2021 – Kelowna-based Utopia VR is calling its first big real-world market test of its online meeting platform a success. The company showcased its technology to more than 110 Ontario communities and sponsors Tuesday (May 18) at the annual Federation of Northern Ontario Municipalities (FONOM) virtual conference. The conference included recorded appearances by Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Ontario Premier Doug Ford.

“The event was hosted by the City of Timmins and Utopia VR (“Utopia VR” or the “Company”) was pleased to be participating,” Stuart Gray, President commented. “I’m delighted to report that the technology met our early expectations and was received well by the portion of 800 delegates who directly experienced the platform.”

“When I was introduced to Utopia VR in early March, I recognized instantly that this is the future of online meeting technology and quickly recommended that FONOM staff consider integrating Utopia VR’s showcase and meeting solutions into this annual event,” commented Timmins mayor George Pirie.

The Federation of Northern Ontario Municipalities (FONOM) is the unified voice of Northeastern Ontario, representing and advocating on behalf of 110 cities, towns and municipalities.

“Utopia VR is a privately-held emerging Canada-based solution provider in the online meeting space,” stated Gray. “Our cutting-edge online VR (virtual reality) VRooms provide users with enhanced, next-level immersive experiences.”

“Our technology is entirely web-based which means meeting hosts and participants can use any device including smartphones, tablets, laptops, and desktop computers. Now, more than ever, we need to be connected and Utopia VR is on the leading edge of human connectivity,” said Gray.

“It’s the future of online work collaboration and it’s here now,” added Gray. “We are still testing the early limits of our platform and we are excited to know that we will be able to announce more details about this exciting, world-class technology in the weeks ahead.”

The FONOM event included two exhibition rooms for conference sponsors, a showcase room for the host city Timmins, and a showcase room for Utopia VR.

The company fielded numerous enquiries from communities anxious to find alternatives to today’s mainstream online meeting platforms.
